REBALANCE: EAT
Eat to support healthy oxytocin levels. While no food has been proven to boost your oxytocin levels, we believe there is a reason we feel an amazing high after eating chocolate. Is it the sugar? Maybe. But did you ever notice how exciting it is to eat buttered popcorn at the movie? Or how wonderful it is to share a roasted chicken with new potatoes on a cold, snowy day with your husband? If you ask me, that high has something to do with feelings of love and pure bliss based on taste alone. And then amplify that feeling by sharing it with someone you love. I think the jury might still be out on oxytocin being tied to food. Life is meant to be lived. And food is meant to be enjoyed!
One more thing on chocolate. If you find you are craving chocolate like a mad woman then it’s possible you are deficient in magnesium. Magnesium helps to ease cramps AND bloating by relaxing the muscles and easing constipation. I don’t know many women who don’t complain about bloating from time to time, and this is a simple way to help alleviate wanting to live in your sweatpants.
Cacao powder also offers about 40 mg of magnesium in each tablespoon. But remember, magnesium is found in those dark leafy greens, like spinach, swiss chard, collards, mustard greens, and watercress. Also, beans, nuts, and fish too. It’s important to point out that chocolate isn’t your only source.
Healthy fascia is also a focus this week so now is the time to throw out there that two foods can make a huge difference when it comes to rebuilding healthy fascia - my favorite thing about having healthy fascia is that it helps tighten that loose mombody skin. The addition of collagen and/or bone broth will serve your mombody well. I personally love to put collagen in my smoothies and herbal tea. As for bone broth, I love to drink this warming food early in the morning or late at night. Do not skip these important secret weapons when it comes to falling in love with your mombody.
