REBALANCE: EAT
When you eat healthy food and do specific exercises to support your mombody, your mombody WILL SUPPORT YOU RIGHT BACK.
Let’s talk about what to eat to lower insulin levels in your mombody for happy hormones. When you balance the big three, this has a trickle down effect of balancing your sex hormones further down the chain…which means a happier, healthier menopause for you.
The keto diet is perfect for lowering blood sugar and insulin levels. We move away from carbs (that spike blood sugar and insulin) to shift the body toward burning fat for fuel.
Blood sugar is one of those things that once it’s balanced, your weight just melts away. But this doesn’t happen by accident - there’s a bit of a learning curve to understand how you can best support your blood sugar levels. No more insulin spikes when you eat - let’s keep that mombody insulin nice and steady so your body can start working on other things that need tidying up.
Another bonus of balancing your blood sugar level is you are automatically eating to support your gut health. Your gut has good guys and bad guys (the bacteria that lives in your digestive track to help break down food) and this ratio is important. Sugar feeds the bad guys. Fiber feeds the good guys. When you cut out the junk - you are automatically supporting the good guys
It’s also important to eat foods that support our liver because our liver has a huge job to do! This organ filters waste and toxins in the blood and maximizes the number of nutrients and minerals reaching other areas of the body. The liver moves toxic waste into the digestive tract so that the body can clear it quickly. In order to do this properly, certain micronutrients must be available for the liver to do its job. These include vitamin C, B vitamins, and selenium, Theses micronutrients are easy to get because you eat them in all those vegetables we keep talking about. And selenium is easy to get by eating two brazil nuts a day. But we also need to think about glutathione (an amino acid known as the “master antioxidant”) and we need to support our body’s ability to make it - this is easy to do by exercising and eating those delicious fruits (minimal amounts) and vegetables again.
To further support your body’s ability to make glutathione it’s also good to eat garlic and onions - these foods contain sulfur which is needed to make glutathione. In our modern world, the liver has to deal with a lot of toxins coming in and anything we can do to help support this process is a major player in weight loss and overall health.
