REBALANCE: DETOX
DETOX is a powerful way to keep your mombody gorgeous. You may think of juicing, drastic dietary restrictions, or even colon cleanses when we talk about detoxing your body but that’s not how we detox in this program. One of the best things you can do to support your mombody is to help your gut heal.
In REBALANCE, we detox by getting rid of the bad stuff so you can make room for all that is good. Sometimes getting rid of the bad means clearing old patterns of thoughts or behaviors.
This week we’ve been talking about blood sugar and it’s important to remember that sugar feeds the bad bacteria in your gut, while fiber feeds the good bacteria. The fastest way to help your gut heal is to limit sugar as much as you can. For some of us, this is easier said than done. Your cravings will subside once you take out the junk but until that happens we have EFT.
Here is a powerful way to help you when sugar cravings hit. If you’ve never heard of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or “tapping” before then prepare to be blown away. The success of the technique has its roots in acupressure and you will be doing a series of tapping on certain acupressure points on your body to help reprogram and calm your nervous system. It’s easier to understand once you try it.
Listen to this video by Gabrielle Bernstein the next time your sugar cravings hit hard. Or, your alcohol cravings. Or, your craving for pizza - it’s all the same thing since white flour is just sugar in the “salty form”. The video below is definitely one to keep for later when your cravings resurface during your late luteal phase. Or, if you are like me, I’m a total sugar junkie that needs all the help I can get when those cupcakes, cookies, and french fries start calling out my name throughout the entire month.
If you want to read more about this technique, I recommend checking out the book, The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss & Body Confidence by Susan Ortner. There are so many emotional issues that tapping can help with and sugar cravings are really only the tip of the iceberg.
